After leaving the Navy I worked as a mechanic and service manager in one of the oldest Honda shops in Minnesota. Being one of the only shops that would work on them, I fell in love with vintage bikes, their quirks and the personality they bring with them. 

Deciding to go racing, I quickly realized I would need some parts made for me. There wasn't a shop within 50 miles of me that I could walk in with a part or drawing and not be given a funny look, so I got a job as a machinist. I'd work from 6-3 for my boss and 3-12 making various parts for my race bike and learning to better mill, turn and precision grind. 

My first two stroke race bike was a 69' Yamaha AT1. I raced it once before low-siding to avoid turning someone into a stain on the track and destroyed my pipe in the process. I spent the rest of that weekend with my mentor Carl Anderson discussing the process of two stroke pipe design. We calculated the outline of my little Yamaha and designed what we thought would be the best pipe for the job. 

After calling several shops all around the country, there wasn't a single person who would make the pipe we designed. They all had the same "off the shelf" pipe that they used for every person that called. Road racing, motocross, flat track or street they all prescribed the same pipe... Not very specialized. After stealing a slip roller from local fast guy Todd Johnson, I set out and made the most gnarly, kinked piece of garbage pipe imaginable. I deemed it an impossible task and walked away. I tried again three more times before I made something that looked like an exhaust. I went out and won three races and started getting requests to make pipes. 

In april 2018 I got laid off from my manufacturing job and started working for myself full time building engines, exhausts, custom parts and assembling entire race bikes from boxes. Since then I've made pipes for bikes from 47' to 20' competing in road racing, flat track, motocross, cross country, and trials. I've also made several trail and street pipes as well.

For the past two years I've had the privilege of working with Scott Clough. Since 1973, Scott has been developing some of the best engines and pipe designs seen around the world with many of his engines winning many multiple national and international championships.

Working with Scott has advanced my two stroke knowledge beyond what I could have imagined when I bought my AT1. We've now coined the term "The more I know, the more I know I don't know"

Since I decided to race motorcycles, Carl Anderson has been guiding me towards the light. 2004 200GP national champion, 2014 F125 national champion and uncountable regional champion. Carl has been racing DTs, CTs, RDs and RZs since before I was born. Since 1994 Carl worked with two stroke tuning legend Harry Barlow. Together they made hundreds of pipes, ported piles of cylinders and sacrificed pistons to dial in their knowledge. I like to say Carl walked so I could run. There is positively no way I'd be where I am today if it weren't for Carl and Harry.

Carl has now taken a front seat to tuning, research and development. We hope to enter a fleet of RDs, CTs and DT1s to absolutely crush and humiliate all Hondas. In Harry's Fathers Honor.
